OBITUARY

BUMGARNER, CHERI ANN (PETERSON), of Gainesville, passed on after a courageous 7 1/2 year battle with breast cancer at the age of 32. She will be dearly missed by the many family and friends she left behind. Cheri was born in Orlando, where she attended Altamonte Elementary, Milwee Middle, and Lyman High School. She moved to Gainesville from Orlando to attend the University of Florida. She graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in Theatre and Dance. She was a member of the U.F. Track and Cycling Team. Cheri loved animals. She founded and operated a pet rescue service called Serenity Pet ResQ. Prior to her illness, she was a highly successful tri-athlete. She modeled and choreographed with Cure by Design, participated in Relay for Life and Making Strides against breast cancer. After completing her first chemotherapy treatments she ran the Walt Disney Marathon for Lymphoma. Cheri received the Courage Award from the American Cancer Society in 2006.
