FOCUSING YOUR MIND
To focus your mind simply means being able to direct your attention, becoming aware if your mind has wandered, and then being able to redirect your attention. There is a lot going on at a dragon boat race that won’t be happening when you practice and you need to be able to focus on the race at hand. There will be lots of people milling around, bystanders rooting for their team at the water’s edge, horns blaring, coaches from all teams shouting instructions. To learn to focus and be more mindful of what you are doing will help you in all areas of your life.
